Visakha Puja Day
วันวิสาขบูชา

            Visakha Puja Day is one of the greatest religious holidays which
falls on the 15th of the waxing moon in the 6th lunar month.
            วันวิสาขบูชานับเป็นวันสำคัญวันหนึ่งทางพุทธศาสนา ซึ่งตรงกับวันขึ้น 15 ค่ำ เดือน 6

The significant celebration is held to commemorate the Buddha’s birth,
enlightenment and death (Parinibbana).
พิธีที่จัดให้มีขึ้นในวันนี้ก็เพื่อเป็นการระลึกนึกถึงวันที่พระสัมมาสัมพุทธเจ้าทรงประสูติ ตรัสรู้และปรินิพพาน

Upholder of all Religious, this auspicious day is celebrated throughout the country.
             ประเทศไทยในฐานะที่เป็นเมืองพุทธอันมีพระมหากษัตริย์ทรงเป็นอัครศาสนูปถัมภกใน
วันสำคัญนี้จะมีการจัดพิธีบูชาทั่วทั้งประเทศ

Religious flags are flown. Religious ceremonies and merit makings are
performed countrywide.
ธงศาสนาจะปลิวไสวอยู่ทั่วไป พิธีทางศาสนาและการทำบุญจะมีขึ้นทั่วทั้งประเทศ

Meanwhile, in the countryside people will wake up in the early morning to
prepare food and sweets for monks, and at dawn they walk in a long line to
the nearby temple where they will spend the greater part of the day in
religious activities.
ในขณะเดียวกันในต่างจังหวัด ชาวพุทธจะตื่นนอนแต่เช้าตรู่เพื่อตระเตรียมอาหารและของหวานเพื่อ
ถวายพระสงฆ์ ครั้นรุ่งเช้าประชาชนก็จะเดินเป็นทิวแถวมุ่งหน้าไปยังวัดใกล้เคียงเพื่อใช้เวลาส่วนใหญ่
ของวันนั้นในการทำกิจกรรมทางศาสนา

 The activities are usually centred around the temple where they attend
sermons during the day and in the evening take part in the candle-lit
procession that circumambulates the main chapel three times.
และกิจกรรมเหล่านี้ส่วนมากก็จะกระทำกันที่วัดซึ่งเป็นสถานที่ฟังพระธรรมเทศราในตอนกลางวัน และในช่วงเย็นก็เข้าร่วมพิธีเวียนเทียนซึ่งได้แก่การเดินรอบพระอุโบสถ 3 รอบ

In the procession, each person carries flowers, three incense sticks and
a lighted candle in remembrance of the Triple Gems (The Buddha, His
Teaching and His disciples).
ในขบวนพิธีนี้แต่ละคนก็จะถือดอกไม้ ธูป 3 ดอกและเทียนไขจุดแล้ว 1 แท่ง เพื่อระลึกพระคุณ
ของพระรัตนตรัย (อันมีพระพุทธ พระธรรม และ พระสงฆ์)

            On this occasion, a grand religious ceremony is also held at Phuttha
Monthon in Nakhon Pathom Province where the statue of the Walking Buddha is located.
เนื่องในโอกาสนี้ พิธีทางศาสนาอันตระการตาก็ยังถูกจัดขึ้นที่บริเวณพุทธมณฑล ในจังหวัดนครปฐม ซึ่งมีพระพุทธรูปปางลีลาประดิษฐานอยู่

Here the candle-lit procession is usually led by a member of the royal family.
ที่นี่พิธีเวียนเทียนโดยปกติจะนำโดยพระบรมวงศานุวงศ์

Buddhists from nearby and other provinces come to take part in the procession and some of them may take the time off to purify their minds through the practice of meditation and listening to the sermons.
ชาวพุทธในบริเวณใกล้เคียง และจังหวัดอื่น ๆ จะมาเข้าร่วมในพิธีและบางคนก็อาจจะถือโอกาสนี้
ขัดเกลาจิตใจให้ผ่องใสโดยการปฏิบัติกรรมฐานและฟังพระธรรมเทศนา เป็นต้น
